Position Description:
The Buyer (KBB/Automotive) is responsible for acquiring and purchasing vehicles for a dealership or automotive company based on market trends, customer demands, and business needs. The role primarily involves evaluating and appraising vehicles to determine their fair market value using resources such as Kelly Blue Book, as well as other industry guides and market data. This position typically reports to the sales or inventory management team and collaborates closely with sales managers and other relevant stakeholders.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Vehicle Appraisal: Utilize Kelly Blue Book and other valuation tools to assess the fair market value of vehicles brought in for trade-ins or sale to the dealership/company.
- Market Research: Stay up-to-date with current market trends, demand, and pricing for various makes and models of vehicles, both new and used.
- Negotiation: Engage in negotiations with vehicle owners or other dealerships to secure vehicles at reasonable prices and favorable terms.
- Inventory Management: Monitor the dealership/company's inventory levels, identifying gaps and opportunities, and making informed purchasing decisions to maintain a balanced and profitable inventory mix.
- Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service to sellers and buyers, addressing their questions or concerns professionally and transparently.
- Vehicle Inspections: Perform detailed inspections of vehicles to identify any mechanical or cosmetic issues that could affect the valuation.
- Networking: Build and maintain relationships with private sellers, wholesalers, auctions, and other dealerships to source quality vehicles.
- Documentation: Complete all necessary paperwork and documentation associated with vehicle purchases and sales accurately and efficiently.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to all legal and regulatory requirements related to vehicle purchases and sales.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
- Strong knowledge of automotive industry trends, models, and pricing, using resources like Kelly Blue Book.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills to secure favorable deals.
- Analytical and detail-oriented approach to accurately appraise vehicles.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve targets.
- Customer-centric mindset with a focus on providing a positive experience.
- Understanding of legal and regulatory aspects related to automotive sales and purchases.
- Familiarity with various vehicle makes and models, including their features and specifications.
- Proficiency in computer software and tools for data analysis and inventory management.
- Prior experience in automotive sales, purchasing, or dealership operations is advantageous.
All applicants must pass pre-employment testing to qualify for employment. Pre-Employment testing includes a background check and drug testing.
