Job Brief
The Assistant Buyer will assist the procurement department at client locations.
Responsibilities
- Contact vendors, place orders, verify supplies, manage supply requisition, and communicate with suppliers to determine expected delivery dates and inform Project Managers of potential delays.
- Maintain production schedules for ongoing projects, assign materials and Crew members to reduce cost, boost productivity and prevent delays that can affect delivery.
- Monitor project delivery timelines, check work quality against company requirements and specifications and ensure compliance with regulations.
- Check status of orders, and ensure merchandise supplies and equipment re forwarded on specified shipping dates by contacting department heads, vendor, and shippers.
- Verify shipment of goods on specified dates by contacting vendors by mail, email, phone, or visit.
- Interacts and talks with transportation company to preclude delays in transit.
- Put tracers on shipment in case of end route delays and may arrange for distribution of materials upon arrival.
- Maintains records of goods on order, along with requested shipping dates, monitors notices from suppliers to eliminate delays.
- Communicate with vendors to request requisition of materials.
- Inspect products for quality and quantity to ensure adherence to specifications.
- Collaborate with Project Managers for updates on delivery timelines.
Requirements
- Two years of related experience
- CPIM or CPM a plus
- PMP, FARS, and DFARS a plus
- Syteline ERP or equivalent a must
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications software & databases.
- Excellent communication and inter-personal skills, with an ability to understand, define, and communicate issues in a clear and concise manner.
- Must be self-motivated and capable of multitasking.
- Ability to interpret various forms of assembly documentation.
- Must be authorized to work in the US and be eligible to obtain a passport.
- Must be able to work over-time as needed.
