North America is an important part of that future, and we’re thrilled to introduce our business, and our unique approach to contract mining, to Salt Lake City and the surrounding Intermountain West region.
ROLE OVERVIEW
We are currently looking for a Business Development Manager to lead our Business Development team, establish and develop Thiess’ market position in North America and achieve sustainable growth through long term strategic relationships with key clients. Identify new prospects that are aligned to the business’ strategy and develop key opportunities to secure/win new work. In this role you will research, identify and develop opportunities and ultimately convert these into new projects as well as maintain extensive knowledge of current market conditions and the client relationship management (CRM) system for North America.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Business development, Project pipeline & growth
- Develop and maintain productive relationships with stakeholders including Thiess staff, clients, customers and consultants
- Actively seek support from operational services, ensuring that methodologies, production, technology and staffing are appropriate for the project
- Proactively manage the broader Thiess business reputation when opportunities arise

- Leadership, Program Management and management of multiple prospects
- Collaborative mindset coupled with decisiveness and ownership until success is achieved
- Entrepreneurship and market knowledge
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Authorization to work lawfully in the USA without sponsorship from Thiess is required
- Must be fluent in the English language
- Flexibility and willingness to travel 30-50%
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at time
EDUCATION
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- Based out of the North American Business Unit in the greater Salt Lake City Utah area (Cottonwood Heights)
- This is a hybrid role with a blend of home and office working opportunities, however, during a period of training and for other business needs there may be times when 100% office work is required
