Bookkeeper

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Bookkeeper to join our team in Carterville, IL. As a Bookkeeper, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing accounts payable and receivable, and assisting with budgeting and payroll. The ideal candidate will have strong technical accounting skills and experience in governmental accounting.

Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records
- Prepare and process invoices, receipts, and payments
- Reconcile bank statements and ensure accuracy of financial transactions
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes
- Process payroll and ensure compliance with relevant regulations
- Monitor accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections
- Prepare financial reports for management review
- Assist with year-end audits and tax filings

- Provide actual costs to jobs as they are completed

Experience:
- Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or similar role
- Strong knowledge of technical accounting principles, including debits and credits
- Proficiency in using accounting software and MS Office applications
- Experience with accounts payable and receivable processes
- Familiarity with budgeting processes and government accounting regulations is a plus
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively

Compensation:

We want the right person for the team we are building. We are willing to work with someone new who would earn on the lower end of our scale. If that person has significant experience we are willing to compensate for it.
