Our client is hiring for an Assistant Payroll Accountant and HR Assistant. As a leader in the commercial construction sector, specializing in Design-Build General Contracting and Structural Concrete projects, is on the lookout for a detail-oriented and efficient Assistant Payroll Accountant to enhance our team. This role is crucial for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, along with managing employee benefits and maintaining compliance with federal and state regulations.
Location: Woodland Hills, CA
Salary Range: $45,000.00 to $60,000.00 annually
What You’ll Do:
Payroll Processing: Manage weekly or biweekly payroll operations, including garnishments, benefits, and taxes in compliance with federal and state laws.
Employee Lifecycle Management: Ensure accurate and timely processing of new hires, temporary workers, transfers, promotions, and terminations.
Payroll Audits and Reports: Prepare and audit payroll documents like W-4s, payroll balance sheets, and YTD earnings. Manage regular preparation of management reports (weekly, monthly, quarterly, year-end).
Compliance and System Updates: Ensure systems reflect current employee data, including wages, benefits, and time off in line with contracts. Manage payroll and tax audits.
Employee Benefits Management: Oversee employee benefits programs, assess benefits needs and trends, recommend programs to management, and manage the processing of benefit claims.
Legal Compliance: Monitor and implement applicable HR federal and state requirements, maintain records, and ensure legal compliance.
HR Policies and Records: Prepare, update, and recommend HR policies and procedures. Design a filing and retrieval system for HR records.
Performance and Relations: Complete HR operational requirements by managing employee relations, performance monitoring, and advising on resolution of issues.
What We’re Looking For:
Experience with payroll processing and knowledge of payroll taxes, benefits administration, and federal/state labor laws.
Proficiency in HRIS and payroll software.
Strong analytical skills for managing payroll audits, reports, and reconciliations.
Excellent communication skills for handling employee inquiries and benefits education.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information.
Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and time management skills.
A team player who can also work independently.
