The Payroll/Human Resources Assitant will provide support to both the payroll department and HR department.
This position will assist in the day-to-day operations of the Payroll and Human Resources functions and duties.Payroll/Human Resources Coordinator MUST:* Provide a positive Can-Do attitude and show positivity through teamwork.* Possess impeccable organizational skills* Must be extremely detail oriented* Respond to employee inquires in a timely fashion.* Exhibit extraordinary discretion, confidentiality, flexibility, & willingness to work closely with team.* Be able to work independently* Must be trustworthy* Must be able to thrive in a hybrid work environmentEssential Job Functions:Assist in the day-to-day operations of the HR and Payroll departments* Monitors and verifies all employee time billing, makes corrections as necessary and obtains manager approvals weekly* Monitors and verifies all hourly/non-exempt employee daily punches in timekeeping system* Monitors and verifies that all non-exempt employees meal breaks are taken and on time* Must have knowledge of public works and prevailing wages* Verify new hire information in time billing and HRIS systems* Helps to prepare counseling forms for non-exempt employees who take unauthorized, on duty meals and send to HR Manager for distribution to department managers* Back up for full cycle bi-weekly payroll processing for all company employees* Back up for certified payroll reporting: utilize Payroll/HRIS system to run reports for certified jobs & utilize LCP Tracker to certify for DIR upload* Back up for monthly California training contribution reporting and upload to DIR* Assist with recruiting and onboarding process* Helps with open enrollment.* Monitors employee eligibility for benefits plans Reviews benefits with employee* Create and maintain personnel and confidential physical/electronic files for each new employee.* Work with HR Manager to schedule telephone and virtual interviews* Assist with employee training assignment tracking* Knowledge of employee off boarding processes:* Knowledge of FLSA and labor laws & communicate to new and current employees* Assist with training compliance trackingResponsibilities/Duties* Adheres to all company policies, procedures, standards, and safety rules.* Adheres to EEOC regulations* Performs other duties as assigned by manager.* Must be available to work Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.* May be required to work additional hours and/or weekends, as needed, to meet deadlines or to fulfill travel obligations.Experience/Education:* Associate Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field preferred* 2+ years related experience and/or training* Equivalent combination of education and job experiencePay Range: $24/hour to $26/HourKnowledge/Skills/Abilities:General: Ability to multi-task, prioritize, organize, solve problems, and complete tasks independently with little supervision required; ability to follow verbal and written instructions; ability to maintain confidentiality related to sensitive company and employee information.Technical: Excellent understanding of PC and standard Office software and hardware.Personal: Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language; ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.Communication: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.
