Summary of Position
This job requires general administrative, supervisory, and tutorial duties that are discipline specific for the Mathematics Department. The incumbent is responsible for supervising the lab assistants, and counseling and tutoring the students that are in the Advanced Mathematics Laboratory.
Minimum Required Education
• Bachelor of Science in Mathematics or related field (e.g. Physics, Computer Science, Chemistry, Engineering, etc).
• Completed Calculus II or equivalent, or Engineering Mechanics II.
Minimum Required Experience
Successful tutoring/teaching experience in Mathematics is required; including experience using computers and Advanced Mathematics software. Managerial/Supervisory experience preferred
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Be able to supervise Lab Assistants in an effective and professional manner.
- Must have the ability to work cooperatively with people at all levels.
- Must be proficient with MS Windows and MS Office.
- Demonstrate a high level of verbal and writing skills, as well as computational skills.
- Must have ability to tutor students.
- Must be reliable, trustworthy, able to work independently, and neat in appearance.
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of Mathematics, Math Lab systems, and calculators.
- Must have the ability to follow and provide concise, clear instruction in a friendly and productive manner.
- Must have computer and computer equipment troubleshooting skills.
