Job Description
Texas Care provides a continuum of community based behavioral health programs to assist individuals in their recovery from mental illness and/or addictive disorders. The Administrative Assistant Receptionist works closely under the direction of the Clinical Director supporting Texas Care locations throughout the state of Texas and performs a wide variety of clerical duties to support Clinical Director, staff members, and clients.
Duties:
· Assist with contract and credentialing all behavioral health staff and Texas Care locations throughout Texas. Update Clinical Director with contracting and credentialing status routinely as directed.
· Submit claims daily, follows up on any rejected or denied claims, and resolves any issues and/or discrepancies.
· Performs routine quality assurance phone calls with clients and documents in progress note in individual charts. Submits contact report regarding status of phone contacts to Clinical Director.
· Assists as directed by Clinical Director in routine monitor of individual charts following the approved chart audit from.
· Files all client documentation in individual charts within one (1) business day of receipt of documentation.
· Answers telephone calls. Screen and routes callers to appropriate locations and personnel.
· Manages incoming requests for behavioral health services and prioritizes appointments using a brief assessment format over the telephone or in person.
· Assists with insurance verification and billing process.
· Assists psychiatric provider by reviewing requests for services, scheduling appointments for the psychiatric provider, and providing general communication to patients requesting refills or who may have questions regarding their medications.
· Provides excellent customer service by using polite and positive language that makes people feel welcome, important, and appreciated.
· Informs staff of visitor arrival, checks for staff availability, and schedules appointments.
· Checks for mail and faxes and distributes to appropriate staff members.
· Organize and provide outreach activities within the community to assist with marketing and gaining referral agencies.
· Participates in agency trainings to enhance skill development, procedural/policy compliance and maintenance of an environment that ensures a recovery focused approach.
· Participates in regularly scheduled supervisory sessions.
· Performs other duties as assigned to meet Clinical Director and Texas Care needs.
· Perform general office maintenance tasks such as keeping the office clean, safe, and organized.
QUALIFICATIONS:
While not required, a minimum BA/BS Degree is preferred with a major in a human service field, such as psychology, counseling, sociology, or a related subject area.
Spanish speaking is a plus!
Interest in working with diverse populations and learning about culture and various forms of culturally appropriate interventions.
Physical Demands: Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability. Must be able to lift up to and in excess of 25 pounds throughout the workday. Sit, stand, bend, lift, and move intermittently during working hours.
Working environment: Works in well lighted/ventilated areas. Subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, etc. Able to learn to work with culturally diverse staff with culturally different styles of communication.
• Familiarity with insurance billing and claims submissions a plus.
• Previous experience with contracting and credentialing is highly desirable.
CPR certification or ability to take and pass a course.
• Must pass criminal background check to ensure that individuals do not come in contact with and are not provided services by a staff member who has a conviction for any of the criminal offenses listed in Texas Health and Safety Code, §250.006, or for any criminal offense that our agency has determined to be a contraindication to employment.
