ResponsibilitiesThis position will be on-campus at FSU Panama City in Panama City, FL.
- The main function of this position is to cover the afternoon shift from 12:15 to 5:15 in the Cashier's Office at FSU Panama City Campus. This includes being able to independently perform specialized job processes to collect fees, fines, agency billing payments, mail-in payments, and the university records associated with these payments. Open, close, and balance the teller cash drawer daily. Counsel students regarding University and Student Financial Services policies related to late fees and fee payment.
- This position also acts as the Mail Center staff member when they are out of the office with mail delivery, posting outgoing US mail using a meter machine, and receiving and delivery of shipments for the campus. Handle outgoing shipments using university UPS account and special pick-ups.
- Assist the Finance & Administration Office as required. Handle bulk mail preparations as needed, providing other clerical support for special projects and events.
High School diploma or equivalency and two years of experience. Note: or a combination of post-high school education and experience equal to two years.)
Preferred Qualifications- Two or more years of experience in a position of cash handling, cashiering, accounting, or a position that utilized basic math and general office practices.
- Knowledge of basic math, cash collection, computer applications, and accounting systems.
- Ability to demonstrate effective customer service skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Ability to utilize problem-solving skills.
- Ability to perform assigned responsibilities with minimal to moderate supervision.
The cashiers at FSU Panama City provide assistance to students who come in person to pay their tuition. They are centrally located and are a point of contact when students come in looking for other offices on campus. The cashier provide information to students over the phone, through email and in person with regards to charges on their account, payment due dates and how to reach other student services departments on campus. A basic knowledge of accounting principles and computers is important since the bulk of the job is performed by using these tools. Cash handling is beneficial since this office takes cash and checks. Also, this position fills in for the mail center when the mail center staff member is out of the office.
