The Ark-Tex Council of Governments (ATCOG) is now accepting applications for Administrative Assistant, Announcement #2304. This is a full-time position located in the Texarkana, Texas, office. The position is responsible for greeting the public; for handling telephone calls; assisting with fax and copy machines as requested; and for providing secretarial, clerical and administrative support services as required.

EDUCATION/TRAINING: Requires high school diploma or GED and two (2) years experience in general clerical and office procedures. Prefer experience or knowledge of Aging or other social services programs. Only experience during the last ten (10) years will be considered for purposes of this application.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES (KSA's)
EDUCATION/TRAINING:
High school diploma or GED and two (2) years clerical experience in an office setting. Specialized clerical training may be substituted for experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY:
Knowledge of switchboard operations; standard office practices and procedures; proper spelling, punctuation and grammar usage; and general office equipment. Digital marketing experience a plus.
Skill/Ability to communicate pleasantly with the public, elected officials and employees; take clear and accurate messages; understand and follow instructions; and operate a variety of office machines required. Must demonstrate proficiency using a PC in a Windows environment, to include Outlook, Word and Excel; must maintain front desk records with precision and accuracy; and must establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, governmental agencies, and the general public. Ability to see, hear, reach, stoop, bend, and lift and carry up to 30 pounds required. Must perform all essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Additional Requirement: Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator's license subject to an approved motor vehicle report and reliable transportation with valid proof of insurance for travel within the ATCOG region. A State of Texas Notary Certification preferred.
