Departmental Objective:

Process and reconcile financial transactions in accordance with state and university policies and procedures.

Purpose of the Position:

This positions is responsible for processing and reconciling accounting transactions into the Commonwealth Accounting and Reporting System (CARDINAL) and the University accounting system (Banner). It is also responsible for performing Accounts Payable and general accounting functions in accordance with federal, state and university policies.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Related to Position:

Required:
Knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
Ability to analyze fiscal transactions for conformity with procedures and regulations
Ability to accurately perform detailed work with numerical data
Good oral and written communication skills
Ability to interpret accounting reports and performing data entry using computerized accounting systems
Proficient in use of office equipment

Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification Required :

Education Required: High school diploma or equivalent
Experience Required:
Previous work experience in an Accounts Payable office.
Experience using an interactive accounting system.
Experience interpreting output reports.
Experience analyzing fiscal transactions for conformity with procedures and regulations.
Experience processing journal entries.
Experience working with internal and external customers to discuss financial processes or issues.

Additional Consideration(s):

Some business courses at business school or college level.
Banner experience. Experience working in a state or government accounting office.

Salary Information:

Starting at $38,376, Commensurate with Education and Experience
