Departmental Objective:Process and reconcile financial transactions in accordance with state, university and federal compliance policies and procedures.
Purpose of the Position:This position is responsible for reviewing, analyzing, processing and reconciling financial transactions into the Commonwealth Accounting and Reporting System (Cardinal) and the University accounting system (Banner). It is also responsible for processing financial transactions, Accounts Payable transactions and complex general accounting functions in accordance with federal, state and university policies.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Related to Position:- Knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
- Ability to analyze fiscal transactions for conformity with procedures and regulations.
- Ability to accurately perform detailed work with numerical data.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to interpret accounting reports and perform complex transactions using computerized accounting systems and proficient in the use of word processing and spreadsheet programs, and office equipment (calculator, 10-key, personal computer etc.)
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent
Experience:
- Previous work experience in a Business or Accounting office.
- Experience with Accounts Payable processes.
Education:
- Business, accounting or equivalent coursework
Experience:
- Experience using an interactive accounting system.
- Experience interpreting output reports.
- Experience analyzing financial transactions for conformity with procedures and regulations.
- Experience processing journal entries.
- Experience working with internal and external customers to discuss financial processes or issues.
- Experience using SCT Banner.
- Experience working in a government accounting office.
- Experience using Excel.
