Missouri Valley College has an opening for a dynamic academic leader to serve as its next Vice President of Academic Affairs.
Summary
The VPAA will drive a comprehensive, strategic, and clearly articulated vision for academic excellence and innovation across the college. The VPAA is responsible for implementing processes that ensure the integrity, quality, and fiscal viability of all academic programs and for providing oversight of policies and procedures governing the undergraduate and graduate curriculum. This includes supporting schools in launching new academic programs and providing oversight and monitoring of all Academic Affairs. Additionally, this role provides leadership and guidance for academic program review, specialized accreditations, compliance requirements, and reaffirmation processes and requirements for the Higher Learning Commission. This individual will be a highly experienced and accomplished academic leader and manager capable of cultivating relationships with both internal and external stakeholders to support the mission, vision, values, and goals of the institution.
Essential Job Functions & Performance Standards
- Leadership of an exceptional and seamless student educational experience across the college.
- Supervision and management of all academic functions within schools, including planning, development, and evaluation of Academic programs.
- Leadership, management, and development of Academic leadership.
- Oversight of all policies related to faculty appointment, reappointment, and promotion.
- Management of overall program development, implementation, approval, review, and governance processes. This includes assessment of the effectiveness, quality, and appropriateness of Academic programs, including coordination with accreditors and vendors who support academic programs.
- Strategic and operational leadership in curriculum planning and development for graduate and undergraduate studies, including institutional and community college partnerships.
- Leading and collaborating to achieve planned, strategic enrollment goals.
- Participation in key committees and task forces related to academic planning, policy, curriculum, etc.
- Identification of potential donors to meet strategic fundraising, naming, and endowment goals.
- Serve as a contributing member of the President’s Cabinet.
- Oversight of Academic Affairs budget and financial stability through careful stewardship of funds.
- Oversight of Academic and student support centers.
- Collection and analysis of graduate placement data.
- Undertake and monitor annual initiatives to advance professional expertise.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
- Earned doctorate degree and a minimum of ten (10) years of related experience or any equivalent combination of education, training, and related work experience.
- Prior administrative experience in higher education, including a minimum of ten (10) years of experience leading, managing, evaluating, and developing faculty and staff.
- Experience developing and guiding academic policy through shared governance.
- Thoughtful leadership in Academic Affairs, inspiring positive change and excellence with leadership, faculty, staff, and administrators.
- A deep commitment to student learning, success, and degree completion.
- A strong record of encouraging and supporting innovation and excellence in research and creative activities, teaching, and community outreach and engagement.
