EMPLOYMENT TERMS: Full-time position
PRIMARY DUTY: The Assistant Vice President of Institutional Research & Effectiveness provides data collection and data analyzation to assist in the creation of performance and operational metrics to support the strategic and operational needs of the University. The AVP leads the data collection and presentation to support the University Accreditation process as well as state, federal and industry surveys. The AVP will assist with the support and tracking of strategic goals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Pursues opportunities where strategic research can drive significant outcomes - in doing so, serves all portfolios of the Northwest Leadership Team, coordinates overall reporting, and helps to shape data and information into strategic priorities and change needs.
  2. Supports the strategic planning process and administration of Institutional effectiveness and strategic initiatives, including environmental scanning, etc.
  3. Ensures that the institutional strategic goals, objectives and performance outcomes are effectively communicated throughout the campus and community.
  4. Supervises the collection and documentation of activities to support the accreditation and assessment efforts of the University for institutional, state and national reporting.
  5. Directs the collection, analysis, and interpretation of selected institutional data and develops systems for the dissemination of information to various stakeholders; Enhances internal and external reporting and analytical capabilities through improved data management that ensures data integrity.
  6. Plans for and provides support to institutional leadership with data for informed institutional planning, evaluation, operations, and decision making; Employs data mining techniques to identify patterns and establish relationships that inform decisions and assist in forecasting;
  7. Leads the report writing function to translate information from various data sources delivering information to University stakeholders.
  8. Creates and maintains relationships with all departments to ensure that current needs are met and future needs are anticipated.
  9. Coordinates efforts with the Information Technology and Software Development Departments to ensure strategic research system needs are articulated and met.
  10. Plans for and directs the creation of daily, weekly, monthly, and annual reports (university and departmental level) that include forward-looking, current, and historical University data for use by internal and/or external stakeholders.
  11. Ensures proactive data collection methodology in accordance with federal, state, and accrediting association requirements, standards, and trends; Ensures the accuracy and timeliness of the University's responses to external data requests from governmental agencies and other associations, including but not limited to IPEDS, state surveys, accreditation, licensure requests, and other miscellaneous requests for information.
  12. Provides planning and analytical support and advice in areas of survey research, design, and analysis to support institutional assessment initiatives.
  13. Coordinates reaccreditation efforts associated with the Higher Learning Commission.
  14. Oversees the creation and maintenance of the institutional key indicators system (dashboards/scorecards).
  15. Serves on teams as assigned.
  16. Manages and evaluates Institutional Effectiveness staff.
  17. Plans and manages Institutional Effectiveness budget.
  18. Assists members of the Northwest Leadership Team with other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Master's degree in related field
Experience: Three to five years of position-related experience
Skills: Ability to work independently and to manage multiple projects; ability to analyze and interpret data; demonstrated supervisory skills; excellent writing and speaking skills; ability to relate to other administrative units and to network and collaborate; ability to participate in the facilitation of organizational change; familiarity with development learning concepts; ability to manage budgets; ability to read written instructions and follow procedures; ability to organize and manage processes
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Terminal level degree
Experience: Five or more years of position-related experience
Skills: In addition to the above, an understanding of measurement and measurement systems including standardized testing, survey methodologies, portfolios, and program evaluation; experience with dashboard/balanced scorecards; balanced scorecards; experience managing a similar office
WORKING CONDITIONS: This position will work in an office environment from the typical hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with an hour lunch break and the possibility of evening and weekend hours. This position must purchase and maintain a cellular device and service that will be used for work functions. This position must be responsible for plan choices, calling areas, service features, terminations clauses, and paying for all charges associated with the cellular device and service.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Oversee office staff in the Institutional Research area
