Reporting to the Utility Program Manager, the Energy Analyst will be a primary resource to the Energy team in Fleet Operations by developing optimized charging schedules, providing indicative pricing of energy costs for new projects, leading energy reporting functions, maintaining dashboards that provide insights into existing energy costs, and developing insights from regulatory research in target areas. The individual will work closely with several business units across the organization including Customer Success and Support, Origination, and Engineering and Maintenance.
Responsibilities:
- Lead indicative pricing of energy costs for new projects
- Provide quarterly revenue estimates of market programs including clean fuel programs, rate tariff analysis, and vehicle-to-grid
- Creation of reporting functions and updates related to energy costs including energy dashboards, Vehicle-to-grid (V2G) metrics, monthly utility invoices, and fleet operations activity
- Build and optimize electric vehicle energy cost and V2G models in support of new project pricing
- Monitor utility regulatory applications for V2G and applicable rate increases in priority regions
- Support project origination with analysis of utility programs supporting school bus electrification, including applicability, qualification requirements, and economic impact
- Support Highland’s energy purchasing strategy by forecasting power demand, seeking pricing from suppliers, developing a comparative analysis and ranking the suppliers
- Lead research in relevant utility policies such as behind-the-meter generation, V2G and EV infrastructure
- Any other ad-hoc or miscellaneous tasks that come about to support the Energy Team
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a field that requires quantitative analysis and/or data-based problem solving such as engineering, economics, business, or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of general work experience in a commercial role evaluating utility rate tariffs, energy costs for projects, utility programs, or working directly with gas or power utilities
- Electric vehicle implementation experience is a plus
- Knowledge of power or gas market structures associated with investor-owned utilities, co-ops, and municipal-owned utilities, as well as regulated and deregulated markets
- Ability to communicate technical data and analytical details clearly
- Experience using large language models to complete deliverables and proficiency with reporting into data visualization platforms and reporting tools (ex: Tableau, Power BI)Ability to operate in a fast-paced, innovative, dynamic team environment
