Linn County Rural Electric Cooperative has an immediate opening for an Electric Utility Data Analyst at our Headquarters located in Marion, IA. Linn County REC is committed to innovation and excellence, providing our members with high-quality services that meet the challenges of today and tomorrow’s electric distribution utility. We are seeking a skilled Analyst to join our dynamic team to help shape the future of utilities. This role is crucial in our journey towards becoming a smart utility.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data from various sources within our utility operations.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualizations to track key operational metrics and provide actionable insights.
  • Use statistical tools to interpret data sets, focusing on trends and patterns that could be valuable for diagnostic and predictive analytics efforts.
  • Work closely with management and cross-functional teams to support the development of smart utility initiatives.
  • Identify and recommend new ways to streamline business processes using analysis results.
  • Assist in the development of data management policies and procedures.
  • Ensure data integrity and compliance with regulatory standards.

To be successful in this position, you will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Proven skillset with data analytic tools and the ability to transform data.
  • Electric Utility experience is not required.

Must also possess the following knowledge and experience:

  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills, building constructive working relationships characterized by a high level of acceptance, cooperation, and mutual respect.
  • Knowledge and experience of relational database query (SQL) skills and large databases
  • Knowledge and experience of data analysis, reporting, and visualization tools (Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, MS SQL Server Reporting Services, or similar tools)
  • Knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) spatial and attribute data concepts
  • Conceptual understanding of business intelligence
  • Ability to use logical and creative thought processes to develop solutions.
