Job Summary
This position is designed to manage/Data Entry of all patient charges pertaining to Surgical Services. The employees act as a liaison with SPD regarding OR supply requirement and ordering. Responsible for clerical duties and monthly reports as assigned. Assist Unit Manager/Supervisor with completion of surgery schedule.
Minimum Job Qualifications
- Licensure or other certifications:
- Educational Requirements: High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum Experience: One (1) year secretarial experience.

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities
- Coordinates and is accountable for Surgical Services Patient charges. Responsible for entering all Surgical Services charges into PHS System to ensure accuracy and that all patients are charged accordingly. Processes all Surgical Services department charges within 8 hours. Process Vendors requisitions to ensure patient is charged and company is paid. Performs daily charge audits by surgical procedure for accuracy. Responsible in updating the OR supply requisitions according to physician request or supply charges. Creates supply requisitions for new physicians and ensures accuracy for charges. Assist with charge corrections as needed according to chart and charge audits. Ensures all patients have been charged for service. Reviews and make changes to next surgery schedule to improve efficiency. Review, print, and distributes the next days surgery schedule. Performs assigned duties with minimal supervision.
- Facilitates communication with other NGHS resource units.
- Promotes effective working relationship with physicians, off site facilities and NGHS staff.
- Process customer concerns effectively and in accordance with departmental policy.
- Contributes and is responsible for Surgical Services Data Entry for productivity and financial outcomes.
- Complies statistical, referral, and departmental activity as requested.
- Completes reports and other other correspondence as requested by the Surgical Services department managers, and Director, Surgical Services accurately, neatly, and timely to improve Surgical Services processes and analyze comparative data.
- Assist in compiling department statistics bi-weekly and monthly.
- Performs follow-up with resource units to obtain any incomplete charges.
