Vector Disease Control International is seeking to hire seasonal Field Technicians to assist with the Chicago Department of Public Health's Mosquito Abatement Program. We are looking to fill these roles as soon as possible.
Field Technicians' responsibilities will be as follows:
- Set and collect mosquito traps in assigned areas and bring mosquito collections back to our lab for identification and testing
- Perform inspections of city catch basins to check for the presence of mosquito larvae and bring samples back to the lab for identification
- Participate in regular public outreach activities and health fairs
- Perform data entry as needed
This program is seeking recent college graduates or currently enrolled college students interested in Biology, Public Health, and/or Environmental Science. Other majors are also invited to apply. Internship positions run through the end of September, depending on candidates' availability and performance.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must have a bachelor's degree OR be pursuing a bachelor's degree
- Must have a valid Driver's License
- Must be able to pass a 4-panel drug test upon hiring
- Previous field and/or laboratory experience preferred but not required
- Personal vehicle is a plus
Hours of Work:
Monday-Wednesday: 7:30am-4:00pm
Thursday-Friday: hours variable
