Position Title: Substance Use Prevention Project Coordinator

Status: Full-Time (40 hours per week)/Non-Exempt

Reports To: Prevention Director

Location: HybridPortland, Oregon – This position can work from home part-time, but is expected to come into the Portland office weekly and occasionally travel throughout the state of Oregon.

Salary: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour ($45,760 - $52,000 annually), depending on a combination of education, certifications and experience.

We have served thousands of people with addiction, mental health and suicide intervention services, treatment referral and drug prevention education.

Substance Use Prevention Project Coordinator Position Summary: The Substance Use Prevention Project Coordinator position will primarily support Lines for Life’s Prevention Department with coordinating Substance Use Prevention Projects, programs, meetings and events. This includes working independently and as a team to implement projects and meet grant/contract deliverables and planning and executing Substance Use Prevention conferences and events.

Substance Use Prevention Project Coordinator Duties:

  • Provide project coordination, organization, support, and outreach for opioid, stimulant, and other substance abUse Prevention Projects and programs to help create scalable and sustainable systems.
  • Support the planning, facilitation, accreditation, and execution of the annual Opioid Pain and Addiction Treatment (OPAT) Conference, meetings, webinars, and events in collaboration with the Events Team, Prevention Director, Chief Executive Officer, and others.
  • Lead the OPAT Planning team in ensuring that the OPAT conference presentations and opportunities include promotion of health equity in underserved and/or marginalized communities and incorporate lived experience.
  • Support the Assistant Director with presenting about Substance Use at Construction Suicide Prevention Partnership meetings and events.
  • Support the logistical planning of the Tribal Training Academy (TOTA/TTA) in collaboration with Prevention Team members.
  • Collaborate and develop workflows with Prevention team members and other Lines for Life departments and committees to drive substance abUse Prevention Projects forward and meet grant and contract deliverables.
  • Network, collaborate, gather input, and facilitate meetings with a wide range of substance abUse Prevention stakeholders across the state of Oregon, including prevention and treatment professionals, healthcare providers, health systems, community-based organizations, law enforcement, public health, and more. This may potentially include building a coalition.
  • Integrate the voices of individuals with lived experience and from marginalized and/or underserved communities in order to have recovery-oriented, equitable programs.
  • Assist the Prevention Director with grant writing and proposals for Substance Use Prevention program funding and provide oversight of Substance Use Prevention grants and contracts.
  • Demonstrate the culture of Lines for Life by modelling behavior that supports the goals and philosophies of Lines for Life.
  • Perform other duties, administrative, and organizational tasks as assigned.

Substance Use Prevention Project CoordinatorRequirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or related experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience coordinating and/or supporting a coalition, social services program, or relevant project.
  • Familiarity working with health care systems.
  • Knowledge related to opioid, stimulant, and other substance abuse/misuse, harm reduction, or overdose prevention.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage competing responsibilities, multi-task, meet project deadlines and proactively ask for support as needed.
  • Able to work both independently and as a team.
  • Proven skills in organization, interpersonal relationships, oral communication, and written communication.
  • Excellent technology skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office systems and web environments.

Substance Use Prevention Project Coordinator Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Prevention Specialist preferred.
  • Knowledge about Substance Use and existing prevention efforts throughout the state of Oregon.
  • Knowledge of and/or lived experience working with underserved communities. This includes understanding of community traditions, customs, beliefs, history and culture and being able to apply this to Substance Use Prevention strategies and practices.

Substance Use Prevention Project Coordinator Work Schedule & Location:

  • This position will primarily work Mondays through Fridays during the day, and may occasionally require working weekends and evenings for meetings and events during conference season.
  • This position has the option to either work 100% from the Portland office or work a hybrid schedule and is expected to regularly come into the Portland office at least once a week for prevention team meetings.

Physical Requirements:

  • This role requires the ability to sit or stand and work on a computer for long periods of time while planning events. This position is expected to come into the Portland office at least once a week for team meetings and expected to occasionally travel for events. The remainder of the time this work can be done remotely
  • Telecommuting requires having a confidential workspace at home and meeting technology requirements.
