- Call Management: In accordance with the "CERTIFIED SPECIALIST IN POISON INFORMATION AND PHARMACY INTERN/POISON INFORMATION PROVIDER INTERACTION POLICY" PIPs will answer and triage incoming calls on the Oklahoma Center for Poison and Drug Information (OCPDI) hotline and the OU Pharmacist CARE Center Afterhours hotline.
- Follow-up Call Management: In accordance with the OCPDI Policies and Procedures, PIPs will perform follow-up calls when appropriate.
- Quality Assurance: PIPs will assist with case reviews and quality assurance programs.
- Education Assistance: PIPs will assist the education coordinator when available. PIPs will answer questions from the public and medical professionals regarding poison prevention, poison management, and drug information.
- Documentation and Data Entry: PIPs will perform data entry in accordance with the American Association of Poison Control Centers (AAPCC) standards for data upload to the National Poison Data System (NPDS). PIPs must maintain proficiency in the use of POISINDEX and Toxicall.
- Communication: PIPs will demonstrate general principles for good communication (both written and verbal) with the public as well as with other medical professionals.
- General: PIPs will demonstrate ethical behavior and adhere to legal requirements (including but not limited to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act).
- Must be currently enrolled at the University of Oklahoma
- Must attach class schedule
- Proficiency in basic computer technology (Microsoft Office, typing)
- Proficiency in pharmacy mathematics
