Job description

This position will report directly to the Assistant Dean of Students and Director of the Office of Student Conduct to help foster a safe and prosperous environment for our students on the Norman, Oklahoma City and Tulsa campuses. What you will do:

  • Supervises staff, including hiring, firing, training, and evaluating performance.
  • Serves as a university Student Conduct officer for individual and student organizational cases.
  • Maintains and monitors the Student Conduct database system, Maxient, by tracking case progression, auditing cases to ensure sanctions are being completed, issuing and releasing Student Conduct holds, and by ensuring that cases are closed when appropriate.
  • Develops, implements, and facilitates training on university policy, procedures, and guidelines for university and community constituents.
  • Develops, implements, and facilitates training for campus Student Conduct officers and other university constituents.
  • Serves as the Student Conduct liaison for the Student Housing Conduct Process.
  • Prepares correspondence and documentation of hearing panel cases.
  • Coordinate's Student Conduct processes and procedures.
  • Provides leadership and communication with university constituents regarding Student Conduct.
  • Serves as an informal resolution process facilitator.
  • Organizes conflict resolution gatherings and dialogues including, but is not limited to: scheduling circle meetings, monitoring referrals, locating meeting spaces, arranging spaces for the gatherings, and preparing appropriate paperwork for gatherings.
  • Ensures compliance with federal and state regulations and reporting mandates.
  • Communicates with law enforcement, medical professionals, housing, and other officials on Student Conduct crisis related matters.
  • Researches, develops, and implements best practices for Student Conduct administration.
  • Monitor and facilitate assessment tools for the office.
  • Develops and administers budgets for assigned projects and programs.
  • Plans and oversees project management.
  • Performs similar or related duties as assigned or required.

Required Education: Bachelor's degree, AND

  • 48 months of related experience

Equivalency/Substitution: We will accept an additional 48 months of experience in lieu of the Bachelor's degree for a total of 96 months of related experience.

Skills:

  • Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines
  • Able to effectively evaluate projects and programs and produce comprehensive reports
  • Able to supervise staff and communicate directions and expectations effectively
  • Must be able to read and interpret policy as well as State and Federal regulations

Advertised Physical Requirements:

  • Sits for prolonged periods. Communicate effectively. Manual dexterity.
  • Standard office environment

Departmental Preferences:

  • Master's Degree in higher education administration or its equivalence (Human Relations, Student Affairs, Educational Leadership, Conflict Resolution, etc.)
  • Familiarity with electronic Student Conduct information management systems; Maxient preferred.
  • Familiarity and/or experience working with fraternities and sororities.
  • Thorough knowledge of Student Affairs, Student Conduct, Student Life, Residence Life, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, and Sexual Misconduct.
  • Outstanding communication skills demonstrated by the ability to interact comfortably with a wide range of diverse people, including professional staff, students, faculty, parents, system-wide colleagues, community partners, and media.
  • Excellent organizational skills as demonstrated by the ability to organize workflow, manage multiple tasks and functions simultaneously, balance numerous demands, and evaluate competing priorities and adjust planning as needed.
  • Exceptional critical thinking skills demonstrated by the ability to analyze large amounts of information, synthesize results, and facilitate resolution of difficult challenges, including the ability to handle issues of complex and extreme political sensitivity.
  • Strong, student-centered philosophy.
  • Strong leadership skills demonstrated by the ability to teach, influence, and inspire others to take action based on vision and strategic objectives.
  • Intercultural competence and understanding of campus climate.
  • Experience using metrics, learning outcomes, assessment, and creating statistical reports.
  • Familiarity with using conflict resolution and/or restorative justice practices in Student Conduct.
  • Strong coaching skills essential to mediate conflict, problem-solve, and respond appropriately to concerns.
  • Ability to create cross-campus partnerships and collaborations with other colleagues, demonstrates administrative and political acumen to work closely with staff in other offices that provide services to students.
  • Strong political acumen and ability to interpret policy as well as State and Federal regulations.
