General Description:Work with Veteran’s Services to certify students for their GI Bill benefits. Prepare accurate reports for Veteran’s Services. File and data entry as needed. Works with the Director of Student Accessibility and Support (SAS) and Coordinator of Veteran Services.

Minimum Education/Experience:High School Diploma or GED.
Two years of full-time experience providing administrative, clerical or secretarial support.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite. Fluent in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Self-motivated with the ability to work in a very diverse and dynamic department as part of a community college setting.
Ability to work flexible hours.
Positive human relations skills.
Exceptional time management skills.
Must be flexible in order to undertake a variety of miscellaneous duties.
Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written communications.
GENERAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position.
Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word.
Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and make fine discriminations in sound.
Repetitive Motions: Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
VISUAL ACUITY:
The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; expansive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly of fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The worker is subject to both environmental conditions: Activities occur inside and outside.
The majority of the time, the worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions (such as in typical office or administrative work).
Associates degree. Experience working in Veteran Education. Knowledge of veteran services. Veterans are encouraged to apply.
Required Training:As required through Human Resources.
Work Hours:Monday – Friday 8-5 or 9-6, as needed. Occasional weekend or evenings as needed.

Job Duties (Duties Assignment Statement):Provide general clerical assistance to the Coordinator of Veteran’s Services. Certify Veteran’s GI Benefits.
Prepare operational forms and requests
Maintain reports needed for the Director of Student Accessibility and Support.
Provide one-on-one support to Veteran students via phone, Zoom (or similar), or in face to face.
Coordinate and supervise special events, projects and functions, including assisting with the Marketing and Public Relations office and tracking attendance.
Maintain accurate and confidential records
Effectively and respectfully interact with students, visitors, guests, College faculty and staff.
Abide by the policies and procedures published in the Board of Regents Policies and College Policies & Procedures.
Contribute to a safe educational & working environment.
Adhere to established safety and health procedures and practices for the purpose of providing injury and illness prevention for self and others.
Complete quarterly health and safety training pursuant to OCCC’s established safety and health procedures and practices.
Participate in all applicable OCCC emergency, evacuation and shelter in place drills and be prepared to take action and assist others in taking appropriate action should a health or safety emergency occur.
