Visit Seattle is now hiring a creative, collaborative, and enthusiastic Seattle-based Social Media Specialist to support the organization’s dynamic social strategy. This position works within the Marketing department creating, sourcing, and organizing Social Media content, furthering campaign messaging, and integrating company-wide initiatives to inspire and enhance the visitor experience. The Social Media Specialist aligns with the goals of the larger organization and can see the big picture but also demonstrates close attention to detail.

 

This person is organized and works well under tight deadlines, thrives when working independently but is also a team player, ready to jump in wherever needed. Preferred candidates will have a strong background in using Social Media platforms on behalf of an organization, including Instagram, Facebook, X, TikTok, and LinkedIn. This role will play a pivotal part in supporting, maintaining, and growing the organization’s presence and engagement across all Social Media channels.

The desired start date is January 2024.


What You’ll Do:

 

  • Build awareness of and excitement for Seattle as a destination by developing content for Visit Seattle’s Social Media channels (Instagram, Facebook, X, TikTok, LinkedIn). Content will include current campaigns and company-wide initiatives in addition to happenings around the city, at local partner businesses, and within Seattle’s diverse communities.
  • Stay up to date on trends and important updates as they relate to Social Media platforms, influencer engagement, and other relevant topics. Use this information to make proactive suggestions that will shape Visit Seattle’s approach to Social Media.
  • Own Social Media Channels
    • Support organic growth of Visit Seattle’s Social Media channels including @visitseattle and @weSEAlove.
    • Create, source, and plan social content for all channels, including the creation of reels and TikTok videos, Instagram stories, Facebook, X, and LinkedIn posts.
    • Assist with proofreading or editing other content before publishing.
    • Help with community engagement across all social channels.
    • Assist with acquiring UGC assets for social channels, website, and campaign usage through Social Media Software partner (currently Crowdriff) to identify, sort, and request permissions.
    • Support Visit Seattle’s relationship with Social Media Software partners (currently Sprout Social and Crowdriff), continually staying up to date on new platform rollouts and participating in quarterly check-ins.
    • Work with Director, Marketing, Marketing Manager, Content, and Social Media Agency (currently Sparkloft Media) on paid Social Media campaigns that support traditional media plans, timely reasons to travel, and other pertinent messaging.
    • Attend partner and community events, visit partner businesses, and explore local neighborhoods to collect content.
    • Provide regular reporting for Visit Seattle’s Social Media performance and analytics, offering insights into how things can be improved or where there are areas of success.
  • Influencers
    • Aid Marketing Manager, Content in influencer campaigns including, but not limited to, sourcing influencer candidates, outreach, and communication, tracking content deliverables and sharing on Visit Seattle’s channels as appropriate.
  • Sponsorship
    • Work with Marketing Manager, Content, Partner Services team, and media Agency (currently SagaCity) to execute Social Media marketing deliverables associated with sponsorships.
  • Perform other related duties and assignments as required.


Who You Are:

 

  • 3+ years relevant experience required
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred
  • Strong background using computers; proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook programs; familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite and Canva is a bonus
  • Strong background using Social Media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, X, TikTok, and LinkedIn
  • Video editing basics for Social Media
  • An understanding of the best use practices for Social Media networks
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Ability to handle diverse colleagues, multiple projects and priorities at the same time with poise and efficiency
  • Able to work efficiently and accurately with minimal supervision
  • Self-starter, takes initiative, exhibits follow through and reliability
  • Strong service approach with both internal and external customers
  • Consistently positive attitude and professional demeanor
  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English, the primary language used in the office.

This position is part of our Marketing Team and reports to the Marketing Manager, Content. You will collaborate closely with teams across all departments to curate content for social messaging.
