A national leader in transfusion medicine, Bloodworks has been chosen to serve more than 90 hospitals in Washington, Oregon and Alaska - partnering closely with local hospitals to deliver the highest level of patient care. Patients with traumatic injuries, undergoing surgeries or organ transplantation, or receiving treatment for cancer and blood disorders all depend on our services, expertise, laboratories and research. We are local, nonprofit, independent, volunteer-supported and community-based.

We have a wonderful new job opportunity for a Social Media Coordinator to join the Marketing and communications team at Bloodworks Northwest! They will oversee our Social Media content to foster a strong, positive relationship with our donors, supporters, and partners across all Social Media platforms.   


Responsibilities of the incumbent will include the following, but are not limited to:

 

  • Create, edit, and publish daily content (original text, images, and video) that builds meaningful connections and encourages community members to take action across all Bloodworks Social Media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn)
  • Maintain a strong, relevant content calendar that aligns with marketing priorities
  • Monitor and manage Bloodworks' brand across major social networks and actively mine social conversations for relevant information and opportunities to engage, or potential patient/donor stories. Ensure consistent brand voice and proper branding standards are upheld across all channels.
  • Manage high levels of inbound messages and conversations, proactively identifying high-profile concerns/trending topics or opportunities for engagement. Foster a caring, positive relationship with followers by responding to direct donor questions and inquiries, and sharing appreciating, and acknowledging donor comments.
  • Able to record, edit, and upload video
  • Moderate all user-generated content in line with the moderation policy for each platform
  • Complete weekly Social Media reports, identify areas where change is needed, and provide solutions to Digital Marketing Strategist
  • Maintain all Bloodworks Social Media FAQs and refine canned responses to ensure accuracy and relevance
  • Implement best practices to grow clients' Social Media followings and audience engagement
  • Work with Marketing team and internal department partners to plan, forecast, and report for Social Media marketing initiatives, community outreach events, projects, and campaigns

 

Requirements of this role, including specific job skills, include:


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in progress or completed or equivalent experience
  • 1-3 years in the Social Media space or equivalent combination of experience, education, and training
  • Demonstrate a passion for social engagement and an eagerness to learn and share new trends in the social and digital marketing space.
  • Demonstrate understanding of brand alignment and preservation on social channels
  • Superior writing skills and creativity with content generation
  • Positive attitude, detail, and customer-oriented service with good multitasking and organizational ability
  • Strong knowledge of Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn and reporting on each platform
  • Strong knowledge and utilization of Social Media tools (Hootsuite, Later, Sprout Social)
  • Experience with WordPress
  • Superb attention to detail to ensure all copies have consistent voice and use of terminology and are free of errors
  • Experience with video editing
  • Excellent organization skills and ability to juggle platforms
  • Nonprofit, healthcare, or hospitality industry experience a plus

 

Working Conditions include:

 

  • Required physical activities include continuous seeing, sitting, and talking. Required physical activities used less frequently include walking, hearing, feeling, and repetitive motion of hands/wrists (all used frequently); standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, driving an automobile and handling (all used occasionally); reaching and climbing (all used rarely)
  • Telecommuting is a frequent condition of this role
  • Some weekend/evening coverage will be required. Evening and weekend work is required due to the 24-hour nature of the blood supply
  • The position will set a weekly schedule of availability with a mix of weekday and weekend hours
  • The ability to push, pull, and lift an average of 15 pounds throughout the day is required, as is the ability to carry an average of 15 pounds throughout the day  
  • Bloodworks is a community-supported non-profit organization.  As such, (from time to time) the incumbent can expect to work with volunteers.
