Job Summary
Position is responsible for managing, and supporting all financial aspects of strategic and operational initiatives for an assigned Service Line by working in collaboration with Service Line leadership, care delivery sites, regional administration, management teams, and medical staff in accordance with established goals and benchmarks. Key areas of focus include: Monthly financial operating reports (MOR), new business (pro forma) analysis, volume research and planning, budget compliance, strategic planning, cost and revenue analytics and reporting. The manager is also responsible for completing special strategic finance projects as required. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of health care finance, Service Line structures, and business analytics. The incumbent operates with a general guidance and direction from leadership, and requires self-direction, creative insights, and critical thinking in determining the appropriate technique or process to complete complex job duties.Job Description

Education: Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Healthcare Administration

Experience / Knowledge / Skills:
- Minimum five (5) to seven (7) years' of progressive financial and strategic analytic experience in healthcare/hospital setting
- Must be able to effectively work with multiple stakeholders both internal and external to Memorial Hermann
- Requires exceptional interpersonal skills and verbal/written communication skills to present to senior leadership and executive leadership
- Ability to communicate complex concepts in simple forms to cross-functional departments or teams.
- Excellent computer skills, including advanced proficiency in Excel with basic knowledge of database applications, EPSi and Tableau.
- Requires strong project management and time management skills to effectively manage all stakeholder needs/requests
- Ability to problem solve quickly and effectively within a matrix environment
Principal Accountabilities
- Manages all financial reporting, modeling and business operations for specific Service Line(s)
- Analyzes and interprets financial data, discerns important trends that can be used for decision making; provides recommendations.
- Serves as the finance leader for the Service Line and attends Service Line team meetings as the finance expert
- Acts as key contact for any Service Line financial question, project or report request
- Prepares MOR presentations for volume and financial metrics and presents them to Service Line leaders and executive leadership monthly
- Prepares Quarterly MOR reports and presents to executive leadership
- Serves as contact person for business development and strategic planning
- Attends Service Line governance meetings as required and presents financial results to physicians
- Assembles financial pro-formas to assess financial outcomes of Service Line Business/expansion plans
- Assists in preparing annual volume budgets for the Service Line with associated impact analysis
- Understands and interprets cost accounting data and presents findings for opportunities in cost reduction or explanations for cost increases
- Understands net revenue and payor mix and presents findings on shifts in payment structures and industry trends
- Validates and reviews numerical data based on thorough understanding of financial concepts, Service Lines and healthcare principles.
- Manages complex projects and resources across multiple teams and departments
- May have accountability over individuals without direct reporting relationship (for example: contractors)
- Identifies and suggests actions to address negative variances; participates in development of capital plans.
- Responsible for planning and designing work assignments and resolving conflicts
- Prepares financial models and analytics as necessary for special projects requested
- Acts in consultative capacity to leaders outside own department
- Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
