Job Description:

This is a high-impact, competitive analyst position on the Sales Enablement Global Competitive Storage Intelligence team within the Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) Storage organization. The role demands an extensive understanding of SMB, Mid-Range, and Enterprise Storage systems, the competitors within the Storage industry. Must understand the needs of Storage Sales Engineers, Storage Sales Business Executives, Storage customers, and business partners. Business and technical knowledge related to the storage and IT industry. The ideal candidate should be considered a subject matter expert in the IT and storage industry by his colleagues and industry peers. Must be capable of interfacing and interacting with internal and external customers; and diverse teams such as HPE and Partner Sales, Product Management, Product Marketing, Business Development, Strategy, Transformation Office, etc. Individuals must possess strong presentation skills with the capability to perform gap analysis to identify competitive advantages between HPE and competitor products and solutions. Can assist with developing and conducting training and education on highly complex topics. The role is central to HPE Storage Sales strategy support and execution within HPE.

  • An inquisitive and intense desire to continuously learn about technology in rapidly changing technology environments
  • Ideal candidate will have previous Field Sales or Sales Engineer selling experience.
  • Open to travel 10% globally and ability to work in a remote office independently.
  • Track, analyze, prepare, and publish notifications regarding industry trends and announcements that can influence market acceptance of HPE technology and solutions
  • Ability to analyze, deconstruct, and assess strengths and weaknesses of competitive offerings, familiar with the SWOT process
  • Author detailed competitive analysis reports, overviews, battle cards, attack cards, and presentations for HPE and Channel Partner Sales organizations; and C-level executives
  • Author supporting research and collateral for business development, product management, product marketing, and new product introductions (NPIs) in support of specific HPE product launch and announcement events
  • Author and conduct competitive and market intelligence training and knowledge transfer for customers, HPE sales teams, and partners
  • Author immediate quick take responses to competitive announcements
  • Meet and interact with industry analysts from major IT industry analyst firms (Gartner, IDC, The 451, etc.)
  • Identify and capture HPE and competitor product feature gaps through continuous interaction with customers and partners
  • Collaborate with internal HPE stakeholders in developing and defining future HPE product roadmap requirements
  • Function as outward-facing IT Industry Subject Matter Expert (SME) on behalf of HPE
  • Assist Competitive project lead in executing product launches and field training

Primary Qualifications (include skills, years of experience, education, knowledge, etc.):

  • 5 years or greater work-related experience in a Competitive role with a major technology provider or as a Competitive Analyst within a Fortune 100 company
  • Extremely strong understanding of storage hardware/software/solutions and data recovery technologies
  • In-depth knowledge of competitors including Dell Technologies, NetApp, Pure Storage, IBM, Hitachi Vantara, Lenovo, Nutanix, Amazon, Microsoft, and others to include knowledge of HPE products
  • Industry knowledge of Storage, Cloud, HCI, Object, File, Security, Networking, Compute, Data Center operations, and Enterprise applications
  • Highly inquisitive self-starter with a deep desire to learn and research complex topics and technologies, with a focus on accuracy and no FUD
  • Exceptional written, presentation, and oral communication skills at all levels from Executive to Sales, Marketing, Product Management, Partners, etc.
  • Ability to work independently and drive results with limited management guidance
  • Ability to concurrently process and prioritize multiple initiatives and projects, and oversee new product introductions
  • Excellent documentation capabilities translating and expressing technical information verbal, written, and presentation skills
  • Ability to explain highly technical concepts in layman's terms understandable by non-technical personnel
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office tools such as PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
  • Possess the ability to directly engage with customers and Sales during customer sales engagements promoting HPE products, solutions, and services
  • Ability to travel U.S. and internationally, if needed. Less than 10%.
  • University Degree - preferably with a Major in Computer Science or comparable discipline
  • Foreign language and multi-cultural experience is a plus, but not mandatory

The expected salary/wage range for a U.S. -based hire filling this position is provided below. Actual offer may vary from this range based upon geographic location, work experience, education/training, and/or skill level. If this is a sales role, then the listed salary range reflects combined base salary and target-level sales compensation pay. If this is a non-sales role, then the listed salary range reflects base salary only. Variable incentives may also be offered. Annual Salary: $113,000.00 - $259,500.00
