Security and Facility Supervisor - Krannert Art Museum

Krannert Art Museum is accepting applicationsfor a Security and Facility Supervisor. This position is responsible for exemplifyingthe professional and high standards of the Museum to all customers, bothinternal and external. Customer care and safety, protecting museum collectionsand property, and maintaining strong positive relationships across universitydepartments are critical to this position, as is commitment to theinstitution's diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility goals.
Job Summary
Responsible for the overall safety and security of the Krannert Art Museum (KAM) collections, staff, and visitors; and for physical plant oversight including building maintenance, HVAC, and security system coordinationDuties & Responsibilities
Facility Oversight
Oversee and maintain a working knowledge of all security equipment and alarm system operations, including keycard, key, and alarm code access. Manage vendor relationship for leased monitoring equipment.
Serve as liaison to University Facilities & Services concerning maintenance of the physical plant. Oversee and maintain a broad knowledge of museum HVAC systems while working closely with museum collections personnel to ensure proper museum environment at all museum locations.
Assess and troubleshoot regular and emergency maintenance requests, taking action steps (create, submit, track work orders, maintain building maintenance logs, ensure work order completion) and routing to Facilities & Services and others, as appropriate.
Serve as unit contact for Archibus, FabWeb, and other facilities related systems.
Participate on all facility and capital project teams.
Consult with appropriate KAM staff regarding specialized needs for the collection, exhibitions, and events.
Serve as liaison to Grounds, work closely with KAM Garden volunteers to maintain museum gardens.
Security Oversight
Develop, implement, and revise security policies and procedures. Maintain compliance with university policies, including those related to Human Resources and union agreements.
Keep current with the latest developments in the field of museum security technology and training.
Serve as liaison with University Police & Fire concerning fire prevention, overall museum security matters, and building safety issues.
Contribute to the development and revision of emergency response/disaster plans, accreditation documents, and Facility reports.
Oversee incoming and outgoing shipments of artwork, packages, etc., working with appropriate museum staff as needed.
Act proactively to create a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for visitors and staff.
Evaluation and Training
Working with appropriate hiring team, interviews, selects, and orients new Security Guards.
Working with Customer Service Specialist, coordinate security training of Student Gallery Attendants.
Conduct ongoing and annual guard evaluations and maintain a working knowledge of Performance Partnership Program for disciplinary action.
Supervises security guards by establishing work assignments and schedules, and planning and scheduling in-service training for security guards.
Unit Clery Act liaison responsible for overseeing annual training for eligible museum staff.
Schedule and coordinate safety, first aid, and CPR classes for all KAM staff.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
2. Any one or combination totaling three (3) years (36 months) from the categories below:
A. college course work in facility management, operations management, or a closely related field, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
- 60 semester hours or an Associate's Degree equals one (1) year (12 months)
B. training from a vocational, technical, or an armed forces program which includes building operations such as coordination of building maintenance, construction management, hospitality, or closely related experience.
C. work experience which includes building operations such as coordination of building maintenance and work orders, construction management, hospitality, or closely related experience.
3. One (1) year (12 months) of supervisory or administrative experience which includes building operations such as coordination of building maintenance and work orders, construction management, hospitality, or closely related experience
Preferred Qualifications
3 years of supervisory experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Computer literate
Able to pass Basic Life Support First Aid Training and complete University of Illinois Campus Police Security Guard Training
Basic knowledge of building operations and maintenance
Strong customer service skills, Security and safety procedure knowledge and previous experience with building and system maintenance issues and processes desirable.
Must have strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills, and be able to work well with staff, students, museum visitors, and others.
Appointment Information
This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 2378 - Facility Operations Coordinator position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the close of the search. Minimum salary for this position is $48,000.00. We strive to provide a competitive salary, considering factors such asavailable market data, internal equity, candidate experience andqualifications, collective bargaining agreements, and budget constraints. Thefinal salary offer will be determined through a thorough assessment of theseelements. Work authorization sponsorship is not available forthis position.
