Job Purpose
To research, analyze, inventory, document, and secure the art collection of Kansas City Kansas Community College (KCKCC). (Multiple Positions)
Position Description
  • Conduct inventory of art and history collection at all college locations.
  • Digitize current art and history collection for ongoing archival purposes.
  • Conduct continuous management of art and history archives.
  • Assist with the installation and programming of the art exhibits within the college Art Gallery.
  • Conduct local historical research relative to the college art collection.
  • Review and evaluate materials and artifacts.
  • Gather historical data from sources such as archives, court records, diaries, news files, and photographs, as well as collect data sources such as books, pamphlets, and periodicals.
  • Research and prepare narrative descriptions of each artifact in the collection.
  • Present historical accounts in terms of individuals or social, ethnic, political, economic, or geographic groupings.
  • Consult with individuals and institutions regarding issues such as the historical authenticity of materials or the customs of a specific historical period.
  • Analyze and interpret artwork's authenticity and relative significance.
  • Collaborate with Art Gallery Coordinator on special projects as assigned by the college President.
  • Provide additional support toward Co-Curricular Assessment and program review for the Art Gallery.
  • Assist with managing Gallery interns, work-study students, and volunteers.
  • Collaborate and communicate with external vendors.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, and social media tools.
  • Strong leadership and self-direction.
  • Able to navigate complex problem solving.
  • Demonstrate excellent time management.
  • Ability to think creatively.

Position Qualifications and/or Education
Minimum Qualifications and/or Education
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • One (1) year art-related research experience.

Preferred Qualifications and/or Education
  • Associate degree.
  • Graphics or photo imaging software skills.
  • Historical research experience.
  • Knowledge of historical events of Wyandotte County and KCKCC.
  • Knowledge of media production, communication, and dissemination techniques and methods.
  • Knowledge of Gantt charts and access data base software.

Work Schedule
20-25 hours per week, during regular hours of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Must be able to work variable schedule/hours to meet operational needs. May require evening and weekend hours, frequent travel and must be able to work evening and weekend hours when required.
