Safety Technician/EHS Professional
Position Summary:
Southland Steel Fabricators is seeking dynamic Safety Professional to add and assist with safety initiatives and shape a culture of excellence. As a key player in our organization, you will have the opportunity to implement cutting-edge safety programs, ensure regulatory compliance, and foster a culture that prioritizes the well-being of our team.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assures working conditions are healthy, safe and workers adherence to safety measures by performing numerous safety audits throughout the day.
- Coordinates & Conducts weekly Safety Meeting and contractor safety program.
- Develops and implements Environmental, Health, Safety strategies and action plans.
- Develops monthly training materials, participates in accident investigations, and establishes performance metrics.
- Ensures company’s compliance with Local and Federal Safety, Health, and Environmental Regulations,
- Explore & highlight new strategies for achieving and sustaining world class EHS performance at our complex.
- Investigates accidents and near misses to ensure root cause, containment and corrective actions are completed.
- Maintains a file of inspections or conditions of the facility and reports in an organized manner and keeps them updated at all times.
- Maintains himself/herself updated on emerging trends and regulatory requirements through continued education.
- Perform site audits.
- Performs Job Hazard Analyses and recommends safety improvements.
- Provide training and education to employees on EHS topics, including occupational health, CPR, and emergency response procedures.
- The position may also be responsible for treating minor injuries.
- Trains staff and plant personnel in EHS
- Associate or Bachelors in EHS related field. Other degrees will be considered with experience in EHS Environment
- EPA and OSHA regulation experience
- Professional certification such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM)
- OSHA 30-hour training completion
- Working knowledge of Federal and State OSHA safety and health regulations. Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization to enlist needed cooperation in implementing regulatory requirements.
- 5-10 years in safety management.
