Air Safety Systems, LLC, is seeking an experienced H2S Safety Technician
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Familiarize and remain cognizant of all drilling activities which could produce and H2S release, i.e.., well kicks, bottoms up circulation, coring operations, well testing/logging, abnormal well conditions, etc.
- Perform all equipment installation, operational checks, and system calibrations.
- Check H2S Detection System and perform H2S calibration checks once every 24-hour period and every 12 hours once H2S has been detected. Recalibrate sensors and record that sensor checks and calibrations were conducted.
- Ensure all 10 minute and/or 30-minute SCBA’s are functional and fully charged.
- Ensure all Cascade Air Banks are charged, on-line, and capable or recharging SCBA’s. Check system for air leaks. Ensure operability of both Electric and Diesel Air Compressors.
- If needed provide continuous monitoring with H2S Mini Check Monitors and/or Detector Tubes.
- Maintain a running inventory of location and availability of all Safety Equipment and keep equipment clean.
- Be prepared to assess the presence of H2S and SO2 if the Gas Flare is ignited.
- Complete Daily Report Logs entries on each day’s activities.
- Perform visual and/or functional checks of all SCBA Units, O2 Resuscitators, and clean and sanitize respirator masks as needed. Ensure units are properly stored for emergency donning access.
- Perform and record Weekly Air Compressor & Air Cascade Air Quality Checks.
- Ensure proper operation of all Alarm Stations.
- Perform inspections and functional checks of all Safety Equipment installed.
- Perform routine maintenance on all equipment as needed.
Response Duties:
- In case of an H2S release, be prepared to don SCBA equipment and perform continuous H2S monitoring until the release is stopped or the order to evacuate has been announced.
- Monitor and determine size and scope of the H2S plume and provide recommendations so that proper course of actions can be taken to protect rig personnel.
- Ensure all Air Breathing System Cascade Stations are placed fully on-line to provide an adequate quantity of Breathing Air to the Primary and/or Secondary Briefing Areas. Ensure the same is done for other cascade stations.
Education & Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent - required
- Two or more years of college – preferred
- 2 years’ experience as a land based or offshore H2S Technician – preferred
- 2 years’ experience with oil drilling rig operations – preferred
- Previous experience with the use of self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA)
Licenses & Certifications:
- Completed H2S Training [40 Hour Course]
- Completed Offshore Water Survival Training
- Completed Confined Space Entry training
- Completed CPR training
- Preferred to have completed Medical First Aid First Responder training
- Preferred to have a Class “B” CDL Driver’s License

- The employee will be required to be able to lift loads up to as much as 75 lbs. and to operate hoist and rigging equipment.
- The employee will be required to be able to operate forklift equipment.

This position is considered OFFSHORE WORK which is characterized as follows.
- Outdoors and indoors, day and night, as well as over/near water.
- Occasional working within confined spaces.
- Requires working on or near moving equipment and vibrating equipment.
