We are seeking a skilled Surgery Scheduler to join our team. As a Surgery Scheduler, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our surgical department. Your attention to detail and ability to effectively communicate with patients and medical staff will contribute to the overall success of our practice.
```Responsibilities:```
- Schedule surgical procedures and coordinate with patients, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals
- Obtain necessary pre-operative clearances and authorizations
- Communicate with patients regarding surgery preparation instructions and answer any questions or concerns
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in electronic medical systems such as Epic
- Collaborate with insurance companies to verify coverage and obtain necessary approvals
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure availability of necessary equipment, supplies, and personnel for each surgery
- Manage scheduling conflicts or changes in the surgical schedule
- Provide administrative support to the surgical department as needed
```Skills:```
- Proficiency in using EPIC
- Familiarity with phone systems and ability to handle a high volume of calls professionally and efficiently
- Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures related to surgery scheduling
- Experience in medical scheduling, preferably in a surgical setting
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively
- Previous experience as a medical receptionist or working at the front desk of a healthcare facility is a plus
