Wisconsin Building Trades Council, an MRA member, Seeks an Operations Coordinator
The Wisconsin Building Trades Council (WBTC) was created in 2018 as a unifying voice for 40,000 union workers, enriching and protecting their livelihoods, families, and communities to build a brighter tomorrow. WBTC’s key objectives include:
- Promoting labor-management apprenticeship programs;
- Serving as a resource for parties about the construction and building trades industry and issues pertaining to the industry on a statewide basis;
- Addressing issues facing the building trades industry and employees in the building trades and the building trades industry, including worker misclassification, prevailing wage, right to work, capital budgets, and responsible bidder/best value contracting legislation.
The successful candidate will help support the organization's day-to-day operations, ensuring smooth communication, efficient workflow, and effective collaboration among our members and stakeholders. This position requires a proactive individual with excellent administrative and interpersonal skills, as well as a commitment to advancing the goals of Wisconsin’s construction labor unions.
Administrative Support:
- Provide general administrative support to the Executive Director and council board members.
- Assist in preparing, editing, and formatting documents, presentations, and other materials.
- Serve as a point of contact for inquiries from members, external organizations, and the public.
- Attend monthly Council Board meetings.
- Assist in basic financial tasks like expense tracking, invoice processing, and budget monitoring.
- Work with the Executive Director to identify opportunities for innovative digital initiatives to enhance the Council's online presence.
- Oversee the management and updates of the organization's website.
- Organize and distribute regular email newsletters and updates to engage and inform members and stakeholders.
- Work with the Executive Director to maintain social media channels and execute campaigns to promote events, initiatives, and critical messages.
- Creating compelling digital content, including graphics, videos, and written materials.
- Support Executive Director in planning and executing outreach events, conferences, and meetings.
- Coordinate logistics, including venue bookings, catering, and audiovisual requirements.
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to stay organized and meet deadlines.
- An understanding of digital platforms, social media management tools, and email marketing platforms.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- A proactive and collaborative approach to work.
- Must be able to meet in person once a week.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- A passion for working for workers’ rights and/or experience in working within the framework of labor unions, a trade, or a construction-related organization is advantageous.
- Graphic design and video editing skills are a plus.
