Major Responsibilities:

• Serves as key operational liaison to corporate distribution department to determine proper inventory levels, recommend improvements and consolidations to distribution, and implement appropriate ordering techniques.
• Serves as key operational liaison to the corporate sourcing strategy and sourcing operations departments to identify and recommend product standardization and cost saving opportunities, provide data to support recommendations, and coordinate product conversions.
• Works with purchasing to build and maintain working relationships with vendors and to resolve various procurement issues, including but not limited to: vendor disputes, invoice discrepancies, expedited processing of emergency orders, reconciling vendor credits and exchanges of product and handling damaged or defective product.
• Identifies and recommends to purchasing opportunities for cost reduction, improvements to supply contracting and methods of enhancing contractual compliance.
• Monitors and controls daily activities with all "bill-only" purchase transactions including vendor delivery and pick-up of implantable products, loaner trays, and other related devices to ensure prudent purchasing practices are observed and enforced. Works with purchasing to develop/maintain a mechanism for monitoring and tracking vendor issues related to delivery, billing and product returns to reduce the financial liabilities of the organization.
• Responsible for the accurate processing of approved requisitions for implantable devices submitted by surgeons and other clinicians. Coordinates instrument and equipment requisitioning and repairs for surgery services, including consignments, vendor billing, rentals and implants and serves as liaison between vendor, surgery staff and medical staff.
• Ensures equipment and supplies related to tissue acquisition, storage, distribution, implantation, disposal and documentation are in compliance with regulatory agencies. Orders, receives, inspects and documents new tissue inventory ensuring temperature ranges are controlled during transport and time validated shipping containers are received uncompromised.
• Documents and reports tissue, implants and other surgical services supply recalls to surgery manager, hospital risk management and infection control departments and maintains recall documentation.
• Verifies vendor registration to distribute tissue with FDA prior to ordering inventory and documents and archives all transactions with suppliers maintaining records for a minimum of ten years.
• Educates surgery staff in the proper storage, handling and tracking of tissues to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies.

• None Required.

Education Required:

• High School Graduate.

Experience Required:

• Typically requires 5 years of experience in the operating room/surgical services environment and/or inventory/ materials management.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

• Knowledge of materials management, medical terminology and/or medical supplies.
• Must be proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint and Word) or similar products.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Skills in time management, critical thinking and problem solving.
• Ability to initiate projects independently.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

• Exposed to normal office environment.
• Operates all equipment necessary to perform the duties of the job.
• Must be able to sit for up to 90% of each workday.
• Physically able to squat, bend and lift 10 lbs.above the shoulders.
• Ability to perform fine manipulation of hands when using keyboard.
