Position Summary: The Medical Office Receptionist greets all patients and manages patient intake. The receptionist is responsible for clerical and organizational tasks like file organizing, scheduling appointments, assisting staff as needed.
Supervisory or Managerial Responsibility: None
Essential Responsibilities:
- Welcomes patients and visitors to the office and directs questions to appropriate staff members.
- Schedules providers appointments to optimize patient satisfaction, provider time and most effective use of exam and treatment rooms.
- Collects co-pays and other payments from patients.
- Reconciles cash/check payment receipts generated from the EHR with cash on hand at the end of each shift.
- Collects forms of ID from patients and any other information necessary for their appointment.
- Retrieves patient files, sequences paperwork, adds new patient record forms, and places files in sequence for physician examination or treatment.
- Maintains reception area in a neat and orderly condition.
- Assists patients with insurance papers and billing questions.
- Assists ill or distraught patients as necessary. Telephones taxis or family members when necessary for transportation. Participates in the Medical Office emergency routine when required. Calls EMS or assists other staff members as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 1 year of medical front desk receptionist experience or administrative experience preferred.
- 1 year of customer service experience required.
Work Environment and Conditions:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
