Brief Description
- Provide references services to CAP staff and member committees
- Act as key copyright resource, helping to ensure compliance across the organization
- Provide manuscript services to committees including complex searches, citation management, methodology authorship, and manuscript review
- Track CAP publications
Specific Duties
Primary duties and responsibilities:
- References services
- Conduct literature searches to meet the information needs of CAP staff and committees
- Retrieve full-text articles
- Provide citation and reference list assistance and reviews
- Provide information literacy instruction
- Copyright compliance
- Serve as the key resource to staff for copyright questions
- Seek copyright permissions, when necessary
- Utilize contracts management software to manage copyright contracts
- Manuscript services for committees
- Participate in meetings with committee staff and committee members to evaluate needs associated with manuscript development, scope, and key questions to refine search strategies as needed
- Conduct comprehensive searches of online sources to meet the needs of the project
- Maintain and document all search strategies and results, following established guidelines
- Maintain citation management databases of search results.
- Author and edit search methodology, as needed
- Create publication reference lists
- Review of manuscript for compliance with journal requirements
- Provide consultations to staff and committee members to guide journal selection and evaluation, open access, author rights, and other publishing models
- Assist staff and committee members in navigating the publishing environment
- CAP publications
- Maintain publications tracking resulting from CAP work.
- Consult with staff on publication metrics/bibliometrics
- Research & Records Services team:
- Work collaboratively to expand research services within the CAP
- Promote Research and Records Services within the CAP
- Provide back up for the Archivist as needed
Additional duties and responsibilities
- Maintain applicable Governance content on intranet
- Assist the Senior Manager, Executive Operations with other assignments as needed

Technical:
- Extensive search experience using online databases and grey literature sources
- Familiarity with MeSH headings, medical terminology, syntax, filters, and Boolean logic required for complex or comprehensive searches
- Understanding of study designs and publication types
- Education, training, or experience with research impact metrics
- Experience using reference management software
- Proficient in the Microsoft environment (eg, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel)
- Willingness to learn new systems, as needed
Education/Experience
Education:
- Master's degree in library and/or information science or equivalent combination of advanced degree and relevant experience
Experience:
- Minimum two years of experience as an information professional in a health sciences library or healthcare association setting
- Demonstrated biomedical search experience
- Demonstrated instruction to various professional groups.
- Familiarity with the publications process
- Previous project management experience preferred
Certification:
- Academy of Health Information Professionals certification preferred
Additional Criteria
- Occasional overnight travel may be required (<5%)
- Travel to academic health sciences library for supplemental research will be required
