Responsibilities
The Maguire Medical Library is one of the leading digital medical libraries in the United States. Over 99% of the library's collection is in electronic format, and is made available to Florida State University students, faculty, and staff who utilize the Medical Library in-person and online, on campus and off campus via remote access. The primary responsibility of the Electronic Resources Librarian is to manage the premier digital Medical Library collection from every angle and lead the evaluation, budget management, vendor relations, licensing, acquisitions, systems integration, maintenance, marketing, and training involved with e-resources.
Evaluation: Evaluate new and existing Medical Library resources using established collection development criteria, with particular focus on curriculum and research needs of medical education, residency programs, biomedical research, and other Medical Library stakeholders.
Budget management: Manage and reconcile the Medical Library's collections budget, including processing of invoices, ongoing tracking of transactions, accurate record keeping, and routine reporting to administration.
Vendor relations: Develop and maintain relations with Medical Library vendors and publishers to assess, license, acquire, and update Electronic Resources.
Licensing: Monitor the needs of Medical Library constituents to effectively license medical information resources within the legal and business constructs of the Medical Library, the College of Medicine, Florida State University, and the state of Florida, as appropriate.
Systems integration: Incorporate Medical LibraryElectronic Resources into all systems that ensure highly effective access for the Medical Library's customers, including integrated library management systems and the Medical Library website.
Marketing: Develop strategies and materials to create awareness and encourage use of Medical Library resources, including partnering with Medical Library vendors and publishers, Medical Library team members, and Medical Library customers.
Training: Develop and participate in training opportunities with appropriate team members within the College of Medicine to facilitate effective use of Medical Library resources, including the Medical Library public services team, medical informatics, faculty development, and curriculum and research representatives.
Qualifications
Master's degree in library or information science from an ALA accredited program.
  • Experience in managing electronic Medical Library resources and systems.
  • Experience in communicating needs and ideas clearly and precisely via email.
  • Experience in the use of Microsoft Excel or comparable software for financial and project tracking.
  • Evidence of professional growth through publication, association activities, or other contributions to the field.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant library experience.
  • Academy of Health Information Professionals (AHIP) membership.

Anticipated Salary Range
Anticipated starting salary $55,000 - $59,000, commensurate with education and experience.
