About the Position: Directs an academic medical library program in a highly complex environment to provide responsive information services to the U.S. Army Medical Department Center and School with support to HQ Medical Command, Brooke Army Medical Center, and other medical activities assigned to Fort Sam Houston.Qualifications:

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. BASIC REQUIREMENTS: This position has a positive Education Requirement in addition to at least one year of Specialized Experience OR substitution of education for experience OR combination (if applicable) in order to be found minimally qualified. Transcripts must be submitted with your application package. You MUST meet the following requirements:
Degree: Must have a Master's degree in Library Science
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: In addition to meeting the Basic Requirements above, applicants must also possess one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 in the Federal service. one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-12) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector: 1) Utilizing major library functions (e.g. library management, reference services, collection development, library automations etc.) to ensure library operations are ran properly; 2) Utilizing budget processes and procedures, including budget narratives and spend plans, to insure the organization budgetary needs are met; 3) Developing performance plans covering work to be accomplished by junior level employees to meet short-term priorities and completes the work; and 4) Analyzing professional literature and legislation to aide in implementing new initiatives in order to enhance library operations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade level position in the Federal service (GS-12).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (G-12).Education: FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
