Overview:
Provide prompt and accurate information, reference service and user education to the EVMS community and public.
Responsibilities:- Selects, orders, catalogs and classifies collections of books, catalogs, periodicals, magazines, newspapers, audiovisual material, microforms, journal reprints and other materials.
- Searches literature on-line, compiles accession lists, and annotates or abstracts materials. Assists
- clients in research problems. Provides user education and orientation. Provides support to institutional review boards for human and animal studies. Participates in the Clinical Medical Librarian (CML) program.
- Keys information into computer to store or search for selected material.
- Trains other workers engaged in cataloging, reference, locating, filing, or copying selected material.
- Works with automated library (SIRSI) and document delivery (ILLiad) systems.
- Performs routine clerical functions of filing, photocopying and mailing of reference materials.
- Assists library staff in shelving and shifting books.
- Performs other duties as needed or as assigned.
Master’s degree in Library Sciences from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited library school. Minimum of two (2) years library experience.
Must have competencies in library computing applications including, but not limited to, online bibliographic searching, web design and use of Internet-based resources. Preferred: coursework in health sciences librarianship or other health sciences training; experience in the health sciences or academic setting; Medical Library Association (MLA) certification.
