Medical Biller

Home & Health Care Management is the oldest home health care agency in Northern California. Our agency specializes in delivering comprehensive in-home care and case management for older adults, children, and those living with disabilities across many counties. We use a matrix of Medi-Cal, Medicare and targeted health programs to find solutions that work for our clients.
Who You Are:
You are a motivated Medical Biller who wants to make a big impact in a small company.
You will report directly to the CEO and be responsible for closing the loop on known revenue and billing issues. The primary responsibility of this role is to maximize revenue by minimizing outstanding balances and resolving billing discrepancies so that we can continue to deliver our world class care. With your diligence, no revenue falls through the cracks.
You pay attention to detail, have excellent communication skills, and have a solid understanding of insurance billing processes and regulations. You know about discretion and understand why this role is subject to HIPAA regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
You will be part of our all-important Accounting team, and this is an in-office position working in our corporate office in Chico, California. To perform this job successfully, you must be able to perform the following duties successfully:

• Bill Medicare and MediCal and insurers consistently and accurately for medical services, and monitor and research problems to determine how to resolve eligibility, billing and account issues
• Keep Accounts Receivable current by being proactive, follow up on outstanding invoices, and maintain billing information and fee schedules for payors
• Responsible for communicating status and known issues with the team and management, and take initiative to develop corrective action plans
• Uses Treatment Authorization Requests (TARs), CIFs, claims inquiry forms and appeals
• Contribute to audit processes
• Willingness to learn new processes, adaptability and perform other duties as required by the Accounting team

Essential Requirements:

• Previous medical billing experience, and proficiency in medical electronic health billing systems
• Accurate with data entry and the ability to acknowledge and make corrections
• Ability to stay organized, and understand that the details are important
• Excellent communication skills and helpful attitude towards team members, Agency staff, and vendors
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure
• Proficient in Excel, Outlook and office applications

Also essential to this role is that you must have a valid California Drivers License, and provide a clean DMV report. This role potentially requires you to drive to another location at times and you will need to have your own car, and have current auto insurance.
You will also need to be COVID vaccinated or have a medical or religious exemption.
Nice to Have:

• Understanding of insurance eligibility verification procedures
• Familiarity with CPT and HCPCS codes
• General understanding of contract language and medical terminology
• We use Brightree Matrix medical billing systems and are looking to use others in the future

Compensation and Benefits:
Pay range is $23-$28 per hour. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
After 60 days of employment you will be eligible for health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, life insurance, as well as FSA.
Leave accrues starting on your first day of employment, and you can take paid vacation, sick and holiday leave after 90 days.
We offer a 401(k) matching up to 4% after 1 year of employment and 1,000 hours worked.
Schedule:

• 8-hour shift
• Monday-Friday 8-5 with 1 hour lunch
