Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze medical records and patient information to ensure accurate coding and billing
- Assign appropriate codes using ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding systems
- Verify and enter patient demographic and insurance information into billing software
- Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies for reimbursement
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims and resubmit as necessary
-Generate monthly reports and spreadsheets for the contracted book keeper
-Reconcile daily receipts
- Communicate with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers regarding billing inquiries or disputes
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Stay updated on changes in medical coding guidelines and regulations
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree in healthcare administration or related field preferred
- Certification in medical coding (e.g., CPC, CCS) strongly preferred
-Experience in Dermatology is a plus
-Familiarity with Apple computers & MacPractice system is a plus
- Proficiency in medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
- Knowledge of medical billing processes and procedures
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical billing software
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in coding and billing practices
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
