Job Description: Major Claims Legal Secretary
The expectations for the position include but are not limited to:
Work effectively as a team with major claims litigation office. Provide secretarial and administrative assistance to attorneys, including preparing and filing pleadings; maintain calendaring system for attorneys; assist attorneys in all aspects of case handling from inception of case through trial preparation; organize and maintain electronic files; interface with management, facilities and technology personnel; open case files in system; work with TyMetrix system for assignment of cases and to upload budgets and follow up with clients and attorneys regarding budgets and billing; enter billable time for attorneys; handle vendor invoices; prepare and submit office invoices; make travel arrangements for attorneys; and manage litigation and office support needs.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Excellent communication, written and organizational/prioritization skills.
- Ability to navigate and effectively manage litigation office files and case management systems.
- Expertise in the Microsoft Office 2010 suite of programs with proficient knowledge of Excel and Adobe.
- Knowledge of Tymetrix and TimeSlips programs.
- Knowledge of legal professional service organizations and legal secretarial and administrative practices and functions.
- Ability to maintain professionalism under pressure.
- Ability to converse in a professional manner with clients, claims, opposing counsel and experts.
- Knowledge of both the Federal and State court systems throughout the counties and state and familiarity with court rules and e-filings.
- Minimum of three years of experience as a Legal Secretary.
Prior insurance defense/coverage experience is preferred.
