Legal Secretary

Overview:

Busy criminal defense law firm in the San Fernando Valley seeking a full-time Legal Secretary to join our team. Must be organized with an eye for detail in written work.

**Previous experience as a Legal Secretary or in a similar role preferred**

Duties:
- Calendaring court dates and appointments with clients using our program (MyCase)
- Typing, emailing and mailing correspondence
- Typing, editing and filing legal motions
- Summarizing police body camera evidence and creating witness interview transcripts
- Daily contact with court clerks and law enforcement personnel, so professional phone decorum is important

Skills:

- Bilingual in Spanish (preferred but not required)
- Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Word and Excel
- Must be a proficient typist (minimum of 50 wpm accurately) and tech-savvy
- Familiarity with criminal law and legal terminology and procedures is preferred, but we are willing to train
- Knowledge of both state and federal court filings [e-filing in federal court] is strongly preferred, but we are willing to train

This is a full-time position with the hours of 9:00 am to 6:00 pm Monday through Thursday, and 8:30 am to 4:00 pm on Fridays.
