Legal Assistant/Paralegal – Personal Injury
Established Plaintiff’s personal injury law firm located in Baytown (approximately 20 minutes from downtown Houston) is seeking a Legal Assistant/Paralegal with a minimum of 1-2 years of verifiable recent experience at a Texas plaintiff's personal injury law firm. The candidate must be able to handle a moderate caseload; must be able to multi-task, prioritize and have excellent attention to detail while maintaining organization; have a positive attitude; and an ability to function in a fast-paced environment. Must be dependable.
The Legal Assistant/Paralegal will assist with office communications and be the center of communication for and between the client, attorney, medical providers, lien holders, and insurance companies; coordinate and manage medical treatment care for clients as necessary; escalate issues to the attorney as appropriate; handle client intake; gather all case related medical records and bills; prepare demands; monitor negotiations and offers; assist the attorney in medical bill and lien reductions as requested; prepare settlement packets and coordinate client sign-outs.
Responsibilities
- Assist in all aspects of personal injury cases from beginning to end
- Gather, analyze, and research information
- Communicating and corresponding with clients, lien holders, providers and others in the legal community
- Answering phone, ability to open up a new claim with insurance company. Provide, daily interaction with existing and potential clients, insurance companies, and medical providers, both via phone and in person
- Maintaining client files
- Review, analyze and summarize case files and medical records
- Preparing various legal documents, including discovery responses and demands
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Special Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Proficiency with computers, telephone lines, and other related office equipment
- Must have strong organizational skills; be able to follow instructions, switch tasks quickly and meet deadlines
- Must exercise sound judgment, work independently, and maintain effective working relationship with attorney and others

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $43,000 - $66,000 DOE). This is a range and starting pay will be based on experience and education.
