Growing boutique law firm seeking Legal Assistant. This position offers the opportunity to assist the firm in being the first face and voice to clients and potential new clients. This position also assists law office staff with filing court documents, scheduling, calendaring, case preparation, daily client interaction, attending eviction hearings in Justice Court and all other work associated with assisting the law office staff with legal and administrative matters.
The ideal candidate will be a multi-tasker, extremely organized, great at communication and have prior legal experience. The desire to work hard and get along with others is extremely important. An honest, reliable, dependable, and positive attitude is a must. This is a fast-paced environment that requires attention to detail, and the ability to connect with and communicate with clients.
This position requires the ability to work from home and to travel to court in Dallas, Tarrant, Collin, Denton and other surrounding counties.
Responsibilities:
- Answer incoming calls and provide callers with basic information
- Receive, screen and transmit telephone calls, conference calls, and messages to attorneys, clients, and staff.
- Draft and file eviction petitions with local JP courts.
- File Writ of Possessions upon client request with JP Courts.
- Sort, scan, and document incoming mail
- Follow up with the courts on pending court cases.
- Attend eviction hearings in Justice Court as an agent for Plaintiff
- Promptly upload case documents and calendar eviction proceedings
- Promptly communicate hearing results and send copies of judgments to clients
- Provides additional administrative assistance as needed to support the Firm
- Ensure the customer service for the eviction department is timely and professional
- E-filing
- Timely respond to all communication, both verbally and written
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in the legal field
- Positive and friendly attitude with a professional appearance

- Exercises high levels of discretion, confidentiality, sensitivity, trustworthiness, and integrity
- Has knowledge of basic legal terminology, processes and documents.
- Must have reliable transportation
