Legal Assistant/Paralegal

General Position Description:

Looking for a candidate with 7+ years of plaintiff personal injury litigation experience as a paralegal/legal assistant. Certification is not required. The position will be responsible for providing support to multiple attorneys and head trial paralegals in the civil litigation process. This includes managing case files, drafting legal documents, filing, and assisting with trial preparation.

Essential Job Functions:

-Experience drafting and finalizing pleadings, briefs, and discovery

-Familiarity with all discovery phases, including reviewing answers and responses to interrogatories, production, disclosures, and requests for admissions. This includes communicating with clients to obtain answers/responses.

-Demonstrate professionalism by complying with attendance policies, dress code, and confidentiality mandates.

-Self Starter: Takes the initiative to start and complete tasks without constant direction or supervision. Motivated, driven, and can work effectively both on their own and as part of a team.

-Organizational skills: Clearly understands how to manage time and resources effectively.

-Attention to detail: The Firm prides itself on its work product, and the candidate will need to uphold this standard. You must pay attention to the smallest details to ensure everything is in order. Candidate must be able to maintain accurate records, keep files organized, and notice inconsistencies or errors that could cause problems.

-Ability to Prioritize: Be able to distinguish between what is urgent and what is important and prioritize their own tasks, as well as the attorneys’ tasks, accordingly.

-Strong Communication: Must be able to communicate clearly with colleagues and clients, respond promptly to emails, and keep everyone informed of progress and changes.

Preferred Skills/Knowledge:

-A comprehensive understanding and knowledge of court practices, requirements, and deadlines in both state and federal courts

-Drafting Table of Contents and Table of Authorities

-Prior experience in the maritime industry would be advantageous

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
