Akerman LLP, a top 100 U.S. law firm serving clients across the Americas, is seeking an experienced Legal Administrative Assistant for its Fort Lauderdale, Florida office. Working with the Firm's Corporate Practice Group, candidates should be highly motivated, able to communicate clearly and professionally, possess a cooperative, team-oriented personal manner and have well-developed administrative and organizational skills. We require a minimum of five (5) years of Legal Administrative support experience. This position will assist and support all aspects of a busy corporate practice including: securities offerings, commercial loan representation, mergers and acquisitions, corporate filings and governance issues, and document preparation.
Responsibilities:
- Create Microsoft Office Word documents that require basic features to complex formatting such as Styles and Formatting, Tables of Contents, Redlining, and other document related functionalities;
- Run conflict checks, open new client matters; and with attorney's direction, draft engagement letters and other required documents;
- Maintain electronic files in document management system;
- Input and edit attorney's time;
- Assist with client billing (Paperless Billing);
- Maintain attorney's calendars;
- Schedule meetings and make travel arrangements;
- Reserve conference rooms as needed;
- Process expense reimbursements and invoices (Chrome River); and
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High attention to detail.
- Demonstrate a courteous and professional demeanor.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Able to work as a team with attorneys and other colleagues.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Programs (Word/Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint).
- Skilled in using PDF programs/software (i.e. Kofax).
- Working knowledge of document management software.
