ResponsibilitiesManages system-wide billing and patient information Revenue Cycle compliance programs, policies, and procedures in alignment with the mission, values, and objectives of the department and organization.
Maintains and demonstrates knowledge of applicable statutory, regulatory and administrative requirements relative to departmental operations/accreditation, identifying and utilizing outside resources as needed. Interacts with legal counsel to discuss initiatives on regulatory compliance. Coordinates with Internal Audit programs to ensure compliance among departments as well as to assist in compliance reviews. Oversees system wide Hospital patient charge master (CDM) requirements and ensures standardization and compliance. Coordinates facility government payor enrollment and revalidation requirements.
Participates in the recruitment, interviewing, selection, training, and evaluation of staff. Assesses technical and professional education needs of the staff and develops or provides educational resources to meet those needs. Assigns workloads and monitors quantity and quality of work. Determines and/or manages business priorities. Develops and implements policies and procedures to insure efficient and effective delivery of services in a unit. Identifies and resolves issues affecting the delivery of services in a unit. Monitors the department's operating budget. Approves or monitors expenditures, purchases and other actions to insure compliance with budget guidelines.
QualificationsEducation:
- Bachelor's degree in healthcare related field or business or equivalent experience.
Experience:
- Five years' experience in admitting and patient business services.
- Demonstrated knowledge of regulatory requirements in the areas of billing and patient information data.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Charge Master as it relates to revenue, reimbursement, financial management, and third-party billing.
Skills:
- PC based computer skills.
- Demonstrated skills in Performance Excellence/Lean.
- Proven competency in government and 3rd party payor information and billing requirements and regulations.
- Proven ability to manage staff directly and work with others through an indirect reporting structure.
- Proven ability to analyze and interpret data, locate record keeping and control deficiencies and initiate corrective action.
- Proven ability to develop and implement goals and objectives.
- Proven ability to communicate verbally to all levels of employees and management.
- Proven ability to prioritize and coordinate information.
- Proven ability to evaluate information systems relative to the management of admitting and billing systems.
- Demonstrated knowledge in the areas of state and federal billing regulations.
- Demonstrated knowledge in the areas of third party reimbursement.
- Proven ability to schedule, meet and maintain daily and monthly routines, and maintain integrity of records.
