King County Metro Transit's Technology Project Management Team in the Capital Division is searching for a creative and proactive IT Project Administrator - Journey who will advance our work in delivering IT projects for internal King County customers as well as customers of the King County Metro department. This position is responsible for providing high level administrative support to IT Project Managers by providing documentation and logistics for all activities involved in the coordination and execution of projects.
The Transit Technology Project Management team provides project management from conception to steady state with operational teams through planning, procurement design and implementation. The team's project portfolio includes a wide-ranging and challenging variety of capital projects for transit-oriented applications and systems including: real time customer information, electronic fare collection and mobile ticketing, on board systems, scheduling and route planning, vehicle dispatch and telematics, maintenance work orders, asset management, wireless network communications, transit signal priority, enterprise architecture, business intelligence, capital project management and reporting, as well as other systems enhancements and life cycle management.

Position Information: This TLT/SDA position is anticipated to last till May 2025. We are accepting applications from current King County Employees only. A Special Duty Assignment (SDA) will be considered for King County employees eligible for special duty assignments and a Term-Limited Temporary (TLT) position will be considered for other King County employees that do not qualify for an SDA. This recruitment will also create an eligibility pool to fill future Career Service, Special Duty Assignment/Term-Limited Temporary vacancies that may become open for this classification. The pool will be valid for 12 months upon creation and may be used at the discretion of the hiring manager(s) until exhausted or until all candidates are placed.
Job Duties
Applying principles is a daily responsibility and foundational expectation for all King County employees. In this role, you will apply equity and social justice principles (ESJ) that exemplify shared values, behaviors, and practices to all aspects of the work.
As an IT Project Administrator - Journey, you will:
  • Provide high-level administrative project support to IT Project Managers on a regular basis. Maintain project documentation and assist in project communication by building and maintaining Microsoft Teams and SharePoint sites.
  • Assist in scheduling and coordinating project and team meetings.
  • Develop and collect research materials, interpret, and summarize information from many sources for general use.
  • Proof-read project documentation and correspondence.
  • Act as liaison between multiple organizational levels within the King County government.
  • Assist project managers in creation of documentation required for project gates and assist in managing gate processes.
  • Maintain electronic and hard copy records management systems.
  • Assist with business plans, project plans, memos, reports, workflow analysis, redesign, cost/benefit analysis and vendor invoice processing.
  • May work on special projects.
  • May provide general guidance to newly-onboarded project staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills
Minimum Qualifications
  • An associate degree and two (2) years of relevant project administration work experience, OR, any equivalent combination of experience and education which provides the applicant with the skills, knowledge and abilities required to perform the work.
  • Intermediate knowledge and application of project management processes, principles, and phases.
  • Advanced knowledge of general desktop applications used in King County, such as DocuSign, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and other Office 365 applications.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency.

  • Project Management Institute's (PMI) Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Intermediate skill in data visualization tools such as PowerBI and Visio.
  • Advanced time-management and organizational skills.

  • Advanced skill in tracking and maintaining plans and various information logs.

Work Location:This is a hybrid position. The main work site for this position is King Street Center, 201 S Jackson St., Seattle, WA 98104.
Work ScheduleThe position is exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not overtime eligible. Work schedule is normally Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Alternative work schedules may be considered. Work outside of the normal workday is required periodically.
Teleworking RequirementThe work associated with this position will be performed predominantly by teleworking, complemented by onsite work and meetings as needed. Employees will have access to shared workspaces at various King County facilities. Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.
