HIRING a Computer Technology Teacher or Vocational Instructor to join our educational team at Abraxas I in Marienville, Pennsylvania -

Do you have a private academic teaching certificate or a private academic temporary approval certificate? Call us - we are hiring teachers for our Private School. As a Teacher, you will help at-risk adolescents in their journey Building Better Futures.

Abraxas I provides adolescent treatment programs for substance abuse, delinquency and medically necessary mental health services. Our 90-acre campus is nestled in the Allegheny National Forest in northwestern Pennsylvania.

As a Teacher, you will be responsible for providing specialized instruction in one or more subjects to clients in order to help them learn the subject matter and/or skills.

Examples of PA Teaching Certificate Types or Subject Areas approved for this position:

  • Business, Computer and Information Technology PK-12
  • Career and Technical Instructional 7-12
  • Technology Education PK-12

Salary: $50,000 annually dependent upon experience

Job Type: Full-time

Shift: Day Shift

As a Teacher, you will:

Maintain a classroom environment that facilitates the teaching of Career and Technical education within their field of expertise.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides classroom instruction in the areas of work-based education including career planning and general career skills. This includes textbook instruction and hands-on practical application to adhere to the sponsoring agency’s criteria.
  • Maintains records including testing, daily inmate/detainee work, attendance and general record keeping to show standards are being met for certification.
  • Evaluates and maintains clients academic progress.
  • Provides individual tutoring.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education Requirement:

The following educational requirements are acceptable for this classification including:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field in subject matter that is utilized for teaching experience is preferred or
  • Associate’s Degree and four years’ experience in Computer Technology.
  • State certification (public (level I or II) or private) in education or a Vocational Certification in a Computer Technology related field.

Other Qualifications:

· At least twenty-one (21) years of age.

· Criminal clearances (Act 33 and 34, specific State & child clearances and, if necessary, FBI).

· Non-communicable diseases physical exam.

· Valid driver's license from employee’s state of residence.

· Valid registered vehicle insurance.

· Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
