Position Summary:
The Department of Computing Sciences at Villanova University seeks applicants for a tenure track position in Computer Science at the rank of Assistant Professor. We seek a candidate whose research, teaching and/or service has prepared them to contribute to our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion and who are willing to support the University's strategic plan of Inclusive Community. The appointment will be effective in Fall 2024. Review of applications is ongoing and will continue until the position is filled. Potential candidates should have a Ph.D. or other terminal degree in computer science or a closely related field. The Department is committed to both scholarly research and teaching. It offers a bachelor's degree in computer science along with master's degree programs in computer science and software engineering. It also offers several certificate programs at all levels. Among its faculty members are successful scholars in theory of computation, natural language processing, computer vision, virtual reality, computational geometry, graph theory, and machine learning. The Department is active in interdisciplinary research into cloud computing, sustainability, cyber-physical systems security, and the Internet of Things (IoT) security. Our faculty members collaborate closely with the Center of Excellence in Enterprise Technology, which uses a large CAVE for research in virtual reality. The Department is a member of the National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT) Academic Alliance and is one of the original Pacesetter organizations of NCWIT. As it grows a culture of inclusivity, the Department collaborates closely with the McNulty Institute for Women's Leadership, the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, and the Villanova Initiative to Support Inclusiveness and Build Leaders (VISIBLE) program, which is actively and successfully addressing diversity, equity and inclusion issues across faculty, staff, and students at all levels.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Teaching duties include a 3-2 teaching load for the first three years, which typically requires two course preparations per semester. After a successful Third Year Review, a one-semester sabbatical at full pay is available in the fourth year and the 3-2 teaching load may be continued for another three years, contingent on a successful and promising record of scholarship.
